Help Protect Utah Mountain Creeks - DEADLINE TODAY!

We need your help to protect the future of Utah’s creeks and the deadline is TODAY at midnight. The Manti La Sal National Forests have released a draft management plan for a 1.4 million acre landscape without any real protections for rivers and without a single mention of river recreation. The Manti mountains are home to unique Utah creeks, including Cottonwood, Ferron, Huntington and Left Fork Huntington creeks. Collectively, these creeks provide over 30 miles of high quality paddling in Utah and the Forest needs to recognize this resource and include robust river protections in their Final Management Plan.

Take Action Today to Protect These Creeks Using Our Easy Action Form!

The Forest Service is accepting comments on their Draft Plan only until today at midnight, November 16! American Whitewater has been pressing the Forest on this for years, but they need to hear from you! In your comment, ask the Forest Service to determine Cottonwood, Ferron, Left Fork Huntington, and Huntington creeks as eligible Wild and Scenic Rivers. If you have personal stories of paddling or spending time on these creeks, please include that and emphasize how these creeks provide a unique paddling experience in Utah. We have provided a sample letter in the easy to use action form that you can repurpose with your own, unique experiences.

American Whitewater is working closely with our partners at Outdoor Alliance to ensure that recreation is managed appropriately on the Forest and that the diverse landscapes are protected for future generations. Help us make this a reality by commenting on the Forest Plan NOW!
